First Bank of Berne Announces Retirement of Assistant VP of Purchasing and Facilities, Gregg Sprunger
January 13th, 2020 (Berne, IN). First Bank of Berne, headquartered in Berne, IN, recently announced that Gregg Sprunger, Assistant Vice President of Purchasing and Facilities at First Bank of Berne, has retired and will be taking over as the Mayor of Berne. Sprunger’s official retire date was December 31st, 2019. 

Sprunger has been involved in the banking community and a part of the team at First Bank of Berne for over 42 years. Over the years, he has held various positions within the bank – with his most recent in the Purchasing and Facilities departments. First Bank of Berne both congratulates and thanks Sprunger for his commitment to the organization and financial industry over the years.

I feel so humbled by God’s grace that he has allowed me these extra years so that I could retire. It has truly been an honor and privilege to have worked at First Bank of Berne.”  Sprunger states. 
Sprunger shares that as Mayor of Berne he will always do his best for the City of Berne in order to continue to make Berne a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Sprunger has served as a District 2 City Council representative since 1989.  He previously held the positions of President of the Berne City Council and Berne Plan Commission. Sprunger has continuously exercised his financial talents by serving as treasurer for the Berne Rotary Club, Berne Republicans, South Adams Trails and South Adams Youth League. He has been an active member of First Missionary Church for many years, where he serves as an usher, greeter, and audit committee member, among many other activities. 

Sprunger and his wife, Barb, are life-long residents of Berne. Together, they have 3 children, Leslie (Jason) King, Ben (Lana) Sprunger and Michael (Jenn) Sprunger. They also have 12 wonderful grandchildren.
